BASSES

MTD 635-24
, s/n 1763.

Walnut over ash, maple over ash. Bartolini pickups & preamp. Knob layout is volume/blend, treble/mid/high boost/cut, with a midrange boost/cut point switch. The extra-string brother to the 535 below, this instrument is just amazing!

MTD 635-24 #1763

MTD 535
, s/n 1693.

Walnut over ash, maple over maple. Bartolini pickups & preamp. Knob layout is volume/blend, treble/mid/high boost/cut, with a midrange boost/cut point switch. This bass is just a tone monster with a massive sound. I've loved the playability and look of MTD instruments for many years, but this is the first one that has really spoken to me in terms of sound. As my man, Gary, put it...I would've been an idiot if I didn't buy this bass. :)

Roscoe SKB-3006 Fretless, s/n 5907.

Spalted burl maple on ash, maple/purpleheart/maple neck and an ebony fingerboard. Bartolini pickups and preamp. Knob layout is volume/blend, and bass/treble on a stacked pot & mid+push/pull on another stacked pot. This instrument replaced my old Zon Sonus S/C fretless, which was an incredible bass. I really fell in love with the tone of this one - great punch and and the upper mids are very pronounced.

Sadowsky Metro M5-24
, s/n M432.

Ash body, maple neck and fingerboard. Sadowsky electronics with just gobs and gobs of tone. Knob layout is volume/blend, and bass/treble boost/cut. The bridge-biased pickup layout really emphasizes the upper mids. Combine that with the famous Sadowksy two-band preamp that offers fat, mean lows and crisp highs, and this instrument can cut through any mix.

AMPLIFICATION & SPEAKERS

Epifani UL-502 & UL-902C

502 - 600 watts and 16 lbs. Beautiful clear sound.
902 - 1,800 watts of clean power in an 18 lb. package.

I am in love with these amps. Very little coloration - just lots of power and incredible light weight. I never run low on headroom with these amps, which is just as impressive as their clean tone. The 502 is my workhorse. I use it on probably 90% of gigs. The 902 sees use on outdoor gigs and other venues that require two cabinets and lots of air movement.

Epifani UL-210, UL-310 & UL-410

210 - Two 10" drivers and one tweeter. 500 watts @ 8 ohms, 38 lbs.
310 - Three 10" drivers (series 2), 750 watts @ 5.3 ohms, 47 lbs.
410 - Four 10" drivers and one tweeter. 1,000 watts @ 8 ohms, 57 lbs.

I have one 210, one 310, and two 410s. The 310 is actually perfect for over half of my gigs. I often mix up combinations of the 210 and 410s for medium/large gigs where I need to push more air. Like with Epifani amps, the first thing I noticed was how light these things are. Obviously that doesn't mean much if they don't sound great, but it's no longer a burden taking two 410's to a gig! As for the sound...amazing. Very, very clean and these cabs hit low and hard. The highs are crisp without being thin, and the mids, while quick, are plenty fat. Definitely the best 10" cabinets I've ever owned.
